13 Lippert Finishes 12th out of 96 Teams at AAU Nationals in Orlando!
Coach Suzy’s team had a very good week in Florida. On Sunday the girls won their 1st in pool of the event with wins over ECJCV, Muncianna, and Lanikai Athletic from Hawaii. On Day 2, the team went 2-1 finishing 2nd with a wins over Legacy and NETVC before falling to Milwaukee Sting (the eventual Silver champions). Day 3 was a big day where the final brackets get determined. The team ended up in a 3-way tie for 2nd place and needed a tie-breaker win against Ethos 13 Allstars. The team pulled out a nice victory in a 1 set playoff 25-17! That set up a 7pm showdown against undefeated Toa Baja Extreme for a Gold or Silver Bracket placement. Toa Baja proved to be too much this night as the girls took the #4 seed in the Silver Bracket on Wednesday. The first match of bracket play was against another local team in Tri-State 13 Blue. Elevation took that match 25-16 and 25-12 moving them to the semi-finals of Silver. That’s where their run ended with a loss to Tampa Elite U13 and a 3rd place finish (12th overall). The team is made up of Sara Hunt, Lucy King, Jules Fink, Audrey Zelczak, Meg Yuan, Emory Spitler, Megan Kelly, Sophia Germano, and Stephanie Martin. Way to end your season with a strong showing girls!

13 Korfhagen take the Gold in 13 Open at Summerfest
It was a challenging start with a great finish for our 13′s in Columbus. Out of the gate the girls lost their 1st match of the tourney and then had to fight off a tough AVC team in 3 sets to make it out of their pool in 2nd place. At 2-1 the girls headed into bracket play as the #8 seed. Immediately they took out the #1 seed in straight sets beating undefeated PAK Elite 25-17, 25-23. The trend continued with another 25-14, 25-19 win in the semi’s over Dunes earning themselves a spot in the finals against Munciana who hadn’t seen more than 14 points scored on them in bracket play. All day Sunday our team controlled the ball and in turn controlled each match. Anna Currin led the way with an MVP type performance as the girls wouldn’t let the ball drop against Munciana and they rolled to a straight set championship 25-17 and 25-23 in 13 Open. The team is made up of Ally Christman, Claire Monti, Katie Biel, Hannah Bailey, Kaitlyn Brown, Izzy Mitchell, Megan Wielonski, Anna Currin, Lauren Statzer, and Faith Hess.

15 Reinert Locks Down their Bid to Nationals!
It took an extra 3 weeks of practice and patience but 15 Reinert came through in the clutch and qualified for USA Nationals at the Northern Lights Qualifier in Minneapolis. In March the team produced a strong 5th place finish at MEQ but that left the girls just out of a bid in Indy. The team was then poised to qualify at the OVR Bid Tourney as a top seed 3 weeks ago but the girls suffered their toughest weekend as a team in Columbus and again were out of the bid. They returned to the gym and put all of their focus on the NLQ which would be their last shot to qualify. 3 weeks later and a 10 hour trip north and the girls have their USA Bid! Wins over Madfrog, Lonestar 15 Elite , and Wisconsin Jr’s 15 Elite were the highlight matches this weekend that will send the girls to Indy. The team is made up of Jada Brewer, Amelia Rye, Isabelle Meehan, Samantha Wolf, Emily Earnst, Ashley McDonald, Grace Gourley, Evie Racadio, and Caroline Bentley. The team is coached by Brittany Reinert and Betsy Markham. Elevation now has 11 teams qualified which is a club record!

Elevation ran through the field on Day 1 and 2 at the World Congress Center beating OVA Asics Red, OVA Tampa, Lonestar 15 Endless Pursuit, and Triangle 15 Black. Day 3 saw a bid opportunity slip away temporarily with the team’s 1st loss in their Gold Medal Pool forcing a must win against A5 to take back the pool. 16 Ulland had a very productive weekend collecting wins against Rockwood Thunder, Houston Jrs, and Niagra Frontier during their 1st 2 pools. A 3 set loss to Mintonette (15-13) meant a 3 way tie in their day 3 Gold Medal pool. The girls came right back and handed Mintonette a 25-15 defeat and then took out Houston Jrs for a 2nd time 25-23 earning them a spot in the final 4 bracket with the top 3 getting open bids. Unfortunately the team lost matches against the #3 and #1 seeds placing them 4th overall and just out of a Bid.
15 Balice also had a great weekend winning their 1st 7 matches of the tournament including wins over Mintonette, NKYVC, SG Elite (California), Academy (Long Island), and East Coast Power 15-1. The big blow of the weekend hit when our #2 seeded Elevation girls lost to #7 OVA (25-23, 27-25) in Gold Medal Pool play on day 3 which kept them from advancing to the final 4. This meant another 5th place finish for 15 Balice who had the same finish at the Mideast Qualifier.
Update: 15 Balice earned an at-large Open bid to Nationals!
Mideast Qualifier Results for U15 – U18 Teams
Elevation sent 7 teams to Indianapolis on March 20-22. It was a great weekend for the club with another bid gathered and a couple more within grasp for a New Orleans trip this summer. 15 Balice went 6-2 on the weekend losing in three sets (15-12) to Legacy in the deciding match of their Gold Medal pool. A 5th place finish out of 48 Open teams was remarkable but meant they were one match short of earning one of the 3 bids available. 15 Reinert went one step further in 15 USA. The girls were 7-2 on the weekend and made it all the way to the semi-finals where they lost in 3 sets (15-10). Unfortunately only 2 bids were available in the USA division and 3rd place finish out of 95 teams will leave quite a sting. 15 Dani also played in the USA division and finished 21st out of 95. The team took 2nd in both of their early pools but lost their challenge match sending them to the silver bracket. They battled all weekend going 3 sets in 5 different matches winning 3 of them including a 15-13 win after trailing 10-1!! 16 Ulland went 4-3 in the Open level but dropped down on day 1 with a loss to Union in 3 sets. The team would go undefeated on day 2 but lost in the bronze bracket to finish 27th out of 48. 16 Omar started out strong taking 2nd place in pool on day 1 but drew a tough pool on day 2 and finished 3rd. The girls lost the 1st round of bracket play in 3 sets (15-13) to finish 33rd out of 96 teams. 17 Goller/Schaad capped off a long weekend with a 3rd place finish out of 48 teams and an Open Bid! The girls were 8-3 on the weekend with great wins over Skyline (Dallas), Legacy (Michigan), Elite VBTC (Ohio), and Tampa United. The girls were just about the last ones out of the gym on Sunday but now get a break since they do not have to attend the Bid Tourney. 18 Walters finished 38th out of 88 teams in 18 American. The girls took 2nd on day 1 but struggled to keep up on day 2 sending them to the Copper (4th) bracket where they took 3rd. This team is made up of 2 sophomores, 5 juniors, and 2 seniors and competes as an 18 National team.
Elevation Volleyball is currently ranked #1 or #2 in 6 different age division of the Ohio Valley Region.

A long Saturday included a tie-breaker match and a crossover win keeping them in the gym all day but put them in the Gold bracket. The team was undefeated all weekend up to that point including a 2 set win over #3 seed Rockwood from Chicago in the quarters.
