Teams are preparing to hit the floor!
The 1st tournaments of the year on fast approaching. Elevation will be sending all of it’s U15-U18 teams in theage groups to Columbus on January 31st and February 1st for Winterfest. On Friday, January 30th there will be a recruiting showcase for any athletes looking to attend. Showcases are a great way to get yourself out there in front of coaches and show that you have college desires. Each showcase is different and the results vary widely from athlete to athlete. Elevation’s stance is that you will be recruited based on play on the court and your willingness to put yourself out there for consideration. This is one way to put yourself out there. If a coach likes you on Friday night they will definitely come by your court on Saturday and Sunday. You will also be on all the coaches lists as having attended the showcase and may get looks because of it or mail. Realize that you will be tested on your vertical and other objective tests at a showcase so if your strength is game play primarily you may be better served emailing college coaches directly with your interest in their school so they can see you play. Always include your tournament schedule and the clubs contact information when emailing coaches. If enough players on each team reach out their own wish list of school we will have a larger contingent courtside at tournaments. Our club is heavily recruited but if you are not an obvious D1 recruit then you will need to be an active part of the recruiting process. Here is a link to the Columbus Showcase.

Mike Seibert passes away at 61
Mike Seibert, a man dedicated to the sport of volleyball and the development of young people his entire life has died of an apparent heart attack while jogging Saturday evening. Mike will be missed by so many who were touched by his passion for our sport and our kids. It would be impossible to put into words the impact that Mike has had at Sports Express and we are so lucky to have had such a positive role model in our building. Please keep his family in your prayers.
The Elevation volleyball family is looking to have an informal gathering to remember Mike. This will be open to all who knew him. We just started a Facebook page for Coach Seibert called “Celebrating Seibert”. Please feel free to contribute to this page and we’ll go add information about a gathering and memorial of some sort as the Facebook page grows. Pictures are particularly needed as well as your thoughts.

Additionally, we need parents and coaches to contribute to the news release section. Would love to see a picture and a small story about how your team did over the weekend. Please email John Paul Case at firstname.lastname@example.org for a username and password for posting. Thanks for your help.
